About Will

Will’s passion for gardening can be traced back to his early love of the outdoors, growing up in Hampshire and Exmoor, where roaming in the woods and moors formed a large part of his childhood.

His landscape career started in earnest in 2001 in the South West of France, where he worked for an historic building firm restoring various Chateaux and their accompanying gardens. It was a fascinating experience, working alongside the old craftsmen amongst ancient landscapes and buildings, and it proved to be a major turning point in his education.

The influences of this time, of the subtle yet profound relationship between architecture and landscape, continue to inform his work.

Upon returning from France, and having worked in the Cotswolds for a small design and build company, Will enrolled at the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden, studying under some of the country’s leading landscape teachers and designers.

He graduated with a Diploma in Garden Design (Dip EGS), and upon doing so, went to work for a highly successful landscape design studio in Long Island, USA. The experience he gained whilst there was invaluable, introducing him to new methods and challenges, and showed him just what was possible in scope and scale.

Since returning from America, Will has been based in London, where Allerton Landscape Design continue to work on projects throughout the UK and abroad, both for public and private clients.
